South Dakota! Center of the Univer....no, not its not.
Wow. I can't believe I'm in South Dakota! Aaron's Mom bought us all (Jared, myself, Aaron and herself) tickets out here to visit family (or my soon-to-be family). We left on Friday morning at 6:20am from Milwaukee. That was pretty darn eerily for us. I don't normally get up until 10am everyday. Oi. We stayed at the Best Western across from the airport so that we wouldn't have to travel a lot in the morning to get there...but we didn't even use the hotel room! We ended up in the bar that night and doing a late night run to Denny's at 2:30am. Didn't get done there until around 3:30 and our shuttle left at 4:00 ...so we just ended up chilling out in the lobby until the shuttle came.
We left MKE and flew into MPS around 8am. We had an hour lay over there. Just enough time to run across the airport to go smoke, grab something to drink, and pass out on our 9:20 flight to Rapid City, SD. We were so.exhausted.
We arrived and was greeted by Aaron's Grandma and Grandpa. From there we went to the mall area and had lunch at Olive Garden. I didn't go with what I normally get (Fettuccine Alfredo) and I got the Chicken Scampi. I must say.....that was delicious!!! I've never really gone out of my comfort zone at Olive Garden, but I'm very happy that I did!!!
From there, we then traveled about 40miles until we reached G&G's house. We ended up taking a 2 hour nap (MUCH.NEEDED). I got up, hopped into the shower and then we had Aaron's Dad Keith pick us up and he took us out to dinner. First time meeting his Dad! We've talked on the phone, but it was nice to actually meet my future Father In-Law BEFORE the wedding. We drank a couple of beers, he showed us around his new house...It was just a really nice evening! Ended up getting home around 11PM and going straight to bed!
We arose today around 9am. Had some doughnuts (YESSSSSSSSS!) and then got ready to go see Mt.Rushmore. We stopped in a city just below Mt. Rushmore called Keystone. It actually kind of reminded me of the Dells a little bit. Discount shops everywhere, jewelry, taffy, and most importantly....fudge. Come to think of it, it kind of felt more like Mackinac Island! Anyhoo, had lunch there and then it was up to see the faces! Spent about an hour up there taking pictures, learning a bit more about the construction on if it all. (really interesting!) and now that brings us back here to where we are just lounging and watching golf.
Tonight for dinner we're having Bunya Couda. I have never had it ...or heard of it before...but it sounds delicious! I know it has peppers in it, garlic, mushrooms, cabbage, and anchovies. The anchovies make me a bit nervous, but hopefully that won't throw me off too much!
We hope to go mini golfing tonight as it is absolutely gorgeous out! Its probably mid seventies out right now with the sun showing its face! (Which is nice considering we haven't seen the sun in so long!!) Oh, and most importantly, there is no humidity!!!
But, I should get going for now. I will update when I get back! Computer is finally fixed but haven't gotten Internet just yet. So, until I meet up with a computer again......
Peace.
