Its been a year. A YEAR! I've been trying to register the plates on my car for a year now with no success. There was a circumstance well over a year now that has since been cleared up . . . but I cannot register my plates. I've been pulled over twice (It should be more than that, though.) and I actually went to court for it to plea my case in September. It went something like this:
Judge: Non registration of auto?
Me: Yes. Its not for lack of trying. Its on GMAC's end.
Judge: Can you get it fixed in 60 days?
Me: Hopefully.
Judge then gets rid of the ticket. Phew.
But I get pulled over again. Same problem. Cops come up to me rudely at first (as the probably should). " Do you know your plates aren't registered to your car? " YES! YES I DO! HELP!!! I don't understand why I can't register my plates. I can not call GMAC without wanting to strangle them. Conversations normally go as follows:
Me: I want to register my car. You guys are on the title of my car and I can't get you off of it.
GMAC: You have to pay off your car so you can register it and get your name as the owner.
Me: No, I do not. 99% of the population do not pay off their car's to renew their plates.
GMAC: But you want your name as the owner on the title.
Me: I just want my name on there period!! My name is nowhere on my Title.
GMAC: I will send you a sheet that gives you permission to register the car in your name.
Me: That does not help. My name is nowhere on the title, therefore making impossible to register it to me.
It then goes into, " Its your DMV that's not letting you then. " So I go to the DMV and they say its GMAC that isn't letting me. Its a HUGE mess and I'm thinking about getting a lawyer involved. Now that I am OVER a year unregistered on my car and that's, I'm sure, some hefty late fees. Something went wrong and its not my fault. I just want to register my car so I can drive on the road without dodging cops.....which I'm getting really good at. I've gone into some pretty strange neighborhoods to avoid a cop. le sigh.
I'm sick of dealing with GMAC and this stupid situation.
